SCHOOL COUNSELING VISION STATEMENT
Every student at Aviara Oaks Middle School will graduate ready to be successful in college and/or career. They will be prepared to accept challenges and meet high expectations of the 21st century becoming positive leaders in the community through collaboration with school, family, and community resources. Our students will demonstrate their fullest potential in academic achievement, social/emotional growth, college and/or career readiness, solving problems independently, and showing empathy towards others in their communities.

 

School Counseling Department Believes:

  • Every student is valued and has the right to feel safe at school.
  • Every student has the right to learn. School counselors collaborate with administration to analyze student behavior, attendance, and achievement data to drive school counseling program decisions.
  • Every student can create and achieve high standards that result in college and/or career readiness.
  • Every student has access to school counselors who are leaders, collaborators, and advocators. School counselors preventatively deliver and evaluate results-based curriculum and activities directed towards positive work habits, study skills, and relationships between others to improve overall academic success.
  • Every student will participate in a preventative developmentally appropriate data driven comprehensive school counseling program.
  • Every student will benefit from a school counselor who participates in timely and relevant professional development opportunities.

SCHOOL COUNSELING MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Aviara Oaks Middle School Counseling Department is to provide all students with preventative, data-driven, comprehensive program addressing academic, social/emotional and college and career ensuring all students receive the support, resources, and opportunities to succeed in an inspiring environment. We advocate an attitude of lifelong leadership through focusing on self-improvement through critical thinking, problem-solving, and respecting each other.

School counselors do not provide therapy or long-term counseling in schools; however, we are prepared to recognize and respond to student mental health needs and to assist students and families seeking resources.
