Online Research and Homework Help

The California K-12 Online Content Project offers access to online educational content from Britannica, ProQuest, Teaching Books, and Gale for use by all students – at no cost to the district or students. Take advantage of these research tools through the student Clever Portal. This can be accessed on the bookmark tab of their Chromebook. This is the same as having access to encyclopedias that cover almost every subject imaginable and gives resources and citations for students to use.

Student Clever Portal

Use these databases when you need information on any topic, project, or homework requiring research. Login information can be found by hovering over the “?” icon that is displayed under the widget link in the CUSD Library Resources section of your Clever portal.

The Dove Library is a quick walk for students to get homework help or a space for group/independent studying. The Carlsbad City Library also has online resources available to Library Card holders.

Destiny and Sora Access

DESTINY

AOMS uses Destiny to manage your student’s library account. Students and parents can access your account anytime to check what items a student has checked out to them, look for books in our school library, and create reading lists or find the lists created for classes.

  • Access the AOMS Destiny Page
  • Sign in using your student's 5-digit Student ID as the username and password.
  • Go to Back Office and My Info

This is a detailed view of all items checked out, due dates, any fines, and the barcode number on the device. This is helpful to identify which items are issued to which student for families with multiple students.

If you have questions about your student's account, please reach out to Mrs. Otten

SORA

Your student also has access to a wide variety of books through the Sora App. These are eBooks and Audiobooks available through the CUSD libraries, Carlsbad Library, and San Diego Public Library. Use your student email and follow these directions on How to Sign Into Sora to start exploring all of the books available to CUSD students.

BOOK CLUB

The Big Library Read is a reading programs that connects readers around the world with the same ebook at the same time without any holds or waitlists. The AOM Library participates in this book club every month. Check the monthly newsletter for which dates we meet in the library to discuss the books. You can access the book each month by logging into Sora, click the San Diego Library under Explore and it should be featured. Please see Mrs. Otten in the library if you have any questions or need help.

Did you buy a book for your student that they are never going to read again? Have a stack of books at home that you want to send to a good place to be shared with other readers? Just want to share your favorite books with students?
