ATTENDANCE
Attendance is taken each class period. Students are expected to be in their assigned classroom when the bell rings each period. Students who arrive at class after the bell rings are considered tardy. Excessive tardies may result in interventions which may include detention, assignment of Saturday School, or referral for SART/SARB (School Attendance Review Board).
ACCOUNCEMENTS AND NEWSLETTERS
School announcements are made each morning after the Pledge and are posted to Parent Square and the PTSA eBlast newsletter.
Please verify that you are able to sign into Parent Square and access your student’s information. There is a Parent Square App in the App store to make accessing Parent Square easier on a cell phone or tablet. This is especially important for general information, teacher contacts, deadlines, and emergency situations.
NON-EMERGENCY MESSAGES
Please understand that messages, assignments, or other items cannot be delivered to students in their classes. We strive to maintain a high level of educational instruction without interruption. Only reading glasses and Chromebooks will be delivered directly to students in their classrooms. For all other items, please inform your student before arriving at school that you’ll be dropping off their item at the table located in front of the office. They may pick up their item during passing periods, brunch, or lunch.
CELL PHONES & OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Cell phone, Smart Watches, and other personal electronic device usage is prohibited during school hours and must be turned off and kept in their backpack. If a student is caught using a cell phone, smart watch or other personal electronic device during school hours, including brunch and lunchtimes, it will be confiscated. All electronic devices confiscated by a staff member may need to be retrieved by a parent. Students may use their cell phones before and after school only.
BIKES, SCOOTERS, AND EBIKES
There are designated parking areas for all bikes, scooters and eBikes inside school gates during school hours.
eBikes require a permit for students to ride and park an eBike at school. Please go to the CUSD eBike page or contact bikepermits@carlsbadusd.net for permitting information. Parents will need to pick up any eBikes without a permit.
CONFERENCES
Parent-Teacher Conferences are done on an as-needed basis and during fall minimum days.
REPORT CARDS/PROGRESS REPORTS
Students hand-carry their progress reports home for the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th, reporting periods. The semester grades are available in Aeries at the 3rd and 6th reporting periods. The dates are listed on the district calendar.
SCHEDULE REQUESTS/CHANGES
Student schedule changes are not done unless the teacher requests or approves a placement change with the parent and the counselor or administration directs the change.
LOCKERS
Students do not have lockers for their books. All curriculum is accessable through Clever using their school Google Account. Class Novels are checked out through the library and parents may request a physical copy of textbooks to be kept at home if needed. Lockers & padlocks are provided in PE for storage of PE clothing. It is the responsibility of each student to ensure their assigned PE locker is LOCKED each class period.
