Safety Reminders Before and After School

Posted Date: 11/14/24 (2:12 PM)

Dear Families:

This morning, a student at the elementary school reported being approached by an adult male, who offered candy and then asked this student to get into his car. Carlsbad Police Department was notified immediately and is working with site and district staff to investigate the incident.

While this incident did not happen at our school, this is an important reminder for all of us of our need to be vigilant, and continually remind our students of the importance of not talking to strangers and reporting suspicious behavior to adults immediately. It is also a reminder to emphasize the importance of knowing your family's pick-up plan, including who is picking your student up and where they will meet.

Talk to your children often about safety. Give them the basics on how to avoid and escape potentially dangerous situations. For information on how to talk with your students about strangers, please review tips from the National Crime Prevention Council

Thank you for helping keep our students safe!

Sincerely,

Nicole Johnston, Principal
