Parents,
We have seen a large increase in damaged Chromebooks in excess of a volume that we are able to control.
We need parents to help students understand the importance of taking care of their Chromebooks. While students have access to these devices for free as a part of school curriculum, you are financially responsible for damages just as you would be for a regular Textbook or Library Book, as outlined in the Acceptable Use Agreement you received in Aeries at school registration and the AOMS Handbook. We do not fine students for labor costs of repairs, but we do need to fine for the cost of parts. Here is a copy of the Chromebook Fines Schedule and it is listed at the bottom of this email. Chromebooks repairs can easily go up to or exceed $150 when screens and hinges are broken due to the number of parts replaced.
Please take time to talk to your students about proper handling of school property and not following trends such as the #Chromebook #Durabilitytest currently trending on social media.
Thank you for your help in this matter.
