The beginning of the year is always an exciting time for goals and new beginnings. Do you have a goal for how many books you want to read in 2026? Mine is 60 books this year.

Judy Reindeer had a blast  

Congratulations to all of our Elf on the Shelf raffle winners. This year we were able to reward 20 Elf Hunters because of the generous donation of meal certificates from Panera Bread here in Carlsbad. 

 CYRM  
There are 3 months left to read the California Young Reader Medal books. Check with Mrs. Otten if you would like to sign up or need to check out a book. Student earn extra credit in English class and a pizza party in March. 

Carlsbad City Library 
There is a lot going on at the Carlsbad Dove Library.  No sign up needed for the monthly clubs, drop in and have fun.  

The Winter Reading Olympics Challenge to win fun prizes. Details here

Dungeons & Dragons Club: First & Third Wednesdays of every month @4pm
Great for those fans that loved or hated Stranger Things and the adventure based in D&D lore. 

Manga & Graphic Novel Club: Second Wednesday of every month @ 4pm 
Are you a One Piece Fan? What about other Manga. Talk about your favorite manga in this club. 

Teens Geek Out Club: Fourth Wednesday of every month @ 4pm 
All things pop-culture. It's like a Comic Con panel every month where you are the expert.

Book of the Month on Sora

Read the Book of the Month through the Sora app in Clever, brought to us by the San Diego County Library. 

The First State of Being  by Erin Entrada Kelly

This was one of my favorite reads over the summer and the Newbery Award Winner 2025.  Ridge is a kid from 2199 that accidentally time travels to 1999 in the middle of the Y2K hysteria. Michael works to help Ridge get back home while also managing worries about his family.
